My 21st Century Classroom

The Ideal 21st Century Classroom

Hello, My name is Kayley Prinzi. By my students, I will someday be known as Miss Prinzi. I don't have some inspirational story about why I decided to become a teacher. In fact, I still don't know if I'm destined to teach. More than anything, I've always wanted to someday be a mother. I know that a teaching job will be accommodating someday to being a mother. I do believe I will be a good teacher, however. I still have to learn what my teaching ethic is, but I am good at relating to people. I have a lot of faith in people and I think that is what a teacher really needs.

After graduationg, I have to teach at a low income school for up to four years because of the Teach Grant I recieved. I think to find a job right out of college, I am going to have to move. I am willing to do that. However, I someday want to get a job at my High School, Harbor Creek Junior and Senior High School. I made pretty good friends with my teachers when I was attending school, and I'd give anything to have them as coworkers someday. I will be a 7th or 8th grade Language Arts and/or Math teacher once I get a job.
In my classroom, I will have enough seats for up to 32 students, but since Harborcreek is a smaller town, not all of my seats will usually be filled. I am going to say for this particular classroom, I will have 24 students. 14 of those students are males, 10 of those students are females. In my classroom (as you can see in the picture below), I use high tech components to facilitate reading. I have the old school chalkboards and bulletin boards. I will have my students bring in current events for extra credit and that is what I will keep on the bulletin boards. I will decorate my classroom with posters about learning. Every student in my class will have an opportunity to use an iPad. We will use reading and writing programs on the iPad to help my students learn to read.

In the back of the room will be my desk, with a work table right next to it. This work table will be where I sit down with students to help them with anything they are having trouble with. Also in the back of the room will be computers that the students are more than welcome to use, and many bookshelves including age appropriate books and dictionaries. If my students don't know what a word means, I will have them look it up in one of the many dictionaries I will provide. My classroom also has a television for movie days. I will use the smart board to give my lessons.

This is Shelly Maas, she has Asperger's Syndrome (since the DXM V SHE IS NOW CONSIDERED AUTISTIC), she has trouble holding social relationships, and understanding certain concepts. This girl is a special needs student in my class. I have an AID always by her side to help her and the other students with anything they might need. She may have aspergers, but she is very intelligent. I have weekly sessions with all of my students, and I do this to see how everyone is doing. If Shelly is really behind, I sit her down and help her get caught up. I try to get her involved with the other students, and the other students seem to do a good job of accepting her.

Technologies

I will have an email account that my students can reach me at. I also will start a sort of chat room thing on Google drive that all of my students and myself can connect on outside of the classroom if anyone ever needs any help. I will encourage my students to help one another out by giving out Husky Bucks for the school supply store. On Google drive my students will also be able to submit our work.

I'd like to use a blog to update what's going on in my classroom, that way I can connect with other teachers around the world.
